Bicycle tour of the Balearic Islands

The western Mediterranean Balearic Islands are ideal for cycle tourists. Golden beaches, beautiful communities, and breathtaking landscapes make these islands a unique two-wheeling experience. This blog will take you on a bike journey across Mallorca, Menorca, Ibiza, and Formentera.

Majorca

Our voyage begins in Mallorca’s capital, Palma. Visit St. Mary’s Cathedral, Bellver Castle, and the bustling markets before riding your bike.

Valldemossa, in the Serra de Tramuntana, is our destination after Palma. The journey is difficult but the vistas are worth it. Be sure to visit Deià, a lovely artists’ community.

Continue through the UNESCO World Heritage Site Serra de Tramuntana to Sóller. The antique train to Port de Sóller and biking to Sa Calobra, climbing the “Coll dels Reis” hill, is a highlight.

The southern beaches, including Es Trenc, are our last stop in Mallorca. Coastal cycling is the perfect mix of relaxation and excitement.

Minorca

Menorca is quieter than Mallorca, perfect for nature lovers. From Mahón, the capital, we cross the island east to west to Ciutadella. The course winds through lush scenery and old ruins like Naveta d’Es Tudons.

Menorca’s southern beaches, like Cala Macarella and Cala Mitjana, are ideal for relaxation. Crystal-clear seas and secret bays provide absolute relaxation.

Ibiza:

Not only is Ibiza famous for nightlife. With its historic centre Dalt Vila, Ibiza Town gives an interesting look at the island’s history. Biking through the small cobblestone alleyways and historic city walls is fun.

We leave the city to visit Ibiza’s hinterland and shore. Pine trees, quiet beaches and environmental areas like Ses Salines Natural Park line the highways. Visit Cala Comte beach for a spectacular sunset.

Formentera:

We finish our tour on Formentera, accessible by ferry from Ibiza. Small size and level roads make Formentera a cyclist’s paradise. Ses Illetes and Playa de Migjorn have some of the nicest Mediterranean beach landscapes.

The Balearic Islands bike tour is an incredible adventure, nature, and culture tour. Mallorca has mountains, Formentera has beaches, and each island has its own character. Grab your bike and explore these Mediterranean gems sustainably and healthily. Enjoy your travel and riding!
